The Aquavista 500 measures approximately 26 inches (height) x 26 inches (width) x 4.3 inches (thickness) and holds approximately 25 liters or 6.6 U.S. gallons of freshwater for tropical fish.
What makes the Aquavista 500 special?
The Aquavista 500 is designed for those who want to enjoy live tropical fish without the hassles of owning and maintaining an aquarium. It can be hung anywhere you hang a picture, so it frees up valuable floor and counter space. Most of all, the Aquavista is beautiful and can be easily personalized to match any décor or style. It does not look like a typical fish tank and becomes an instant conversation piece. The AV500’s shatterproof construction and advanced, self-contained aquatic technology make it the perfect solution for any busy household or office.
Set up is easy. Just hang, add water and fish.
What does the Aquavista 500 come with?
Each Aquavista 500 comes pre-assembled with advanced dual filtration, heater, overhead lighting system and air pump. The easy-to-use embedded LCD control display panel allows you to control and monitor filtration, temperature, oxygen, and lighting. Each Aquavista 500 includes black or silver contemporary frame of your choice and your choice of one of our 3D submersible backgrounds.
All essential fish care accessories are included such as: Custom steel hanging bracket, water siphon, fish net, algae scraper, aquarium gravel, filtration media, and acrylic glass cleaner.
Aquavista provides other backgrounds and frames that enable you to further personalize your living art, but we want to make your Aquavista experience as easy as possible.
We don’t want you to think about anything except for what kind of fish you want to put into your Aquavista 500.
What is the purpose of the LCD control panel?
The embedded LCD control panel is the central nervous system of the Aquavista 500 and makes controlling the Aquavista 500 simple. It displays the aquarium temperature and allows you to easily program the aquarium light, filtration, heater settings, and air pump settings.
What makes the Aquavista 500 filter special and so easy?
The Aquavista 500 comes with the most advanced aquatic technology in any wall aquarium. The Aquavista 500 is pre-assembled with dual filtration including biological wet-dry and mechanical filtration. We put in everything you need, so you don’t have to.
How much does the Aquavista 500 weigh?
The Aquavista 500 weighs approximately 25 lbs empty and will weigh approximately 75 lbs when filled with water. We recommend securing the Aquavista 500’s proprietary easy-to-mount bracket to the studs in the walls and adding water after you have hung the product.
How do I hang the Aquavista 500?
The Aquavista 500 is surface-mounted to the wall, flush like a painting. Most people will do it themselves, since each unit includes a special reinforced steel wall bracket for easy mounting. Just secure the bracket to the studs in the wall, hang the aquarium, add water and fish.
What if I have a larger wall? What should I do?
The Aquavista 500 is designed to be modular. We have customers who will hang them side by side touching or even spaced apart to create a living mural on the wall. Since the backgrounds are interchangeable, you can order different backgrounds to create a panoramic mural or even use our custom backgrounds to create two backgrounds from one panoramic photo. We even have customers who set them up vertically (one above the other) to create a wall of fish.
How is the Aquavista 500 powered? How do I hide the power cord on Aquavista 500?
The Aquavista 500 is completely pre-assembled and powered by one 5 ft grounded plug that is located underneath on the right side of the aquarium when you are facing it. You many not see the cord in some of our photos. Here are the most common ways to hide the cord or disguise the cord:
(1) Use panduit (wire cover) to hide the cord in a neat fashion on the wall. This is a sheath that covers the wire and can be purchased at a local hardware store for approximately $5. Wire cover can be easily painted to match wall paper and paint jobs; or
(2) Hide the cord in the wall and hardwire into electrical source in city or below the aquarium. Using this method, there is no cord visibility. Most customers will hire an electrician to do this (usually costs less than $60).
How many fish can I keep in the Aquavista 500?
The number of fish you can keep will depend on the type and size of fish that you choose. We recommend that you speak with your local pet store regarding the types of tropical fish that best suit your new aquarium. Be careful not to overcrowd your pet fish.
What kind of fish should I keep in the Aquavista 500?
Below are some recommended fish for Aquavista 500:
Community fish: Platys, Tetras, Mollies, Guppies, Neons
Semi-aggressive fish: Danios, Silver Dollars, Tiger / Green / Gold Barbs
Goldfish: Any fancy goldfish (Oranda, fancy tail gold fish, etc.) or regular goldfish (feeder fish etc.)
After 4 weeks, you can add algae eating fish (Plecostomus, Chinese algae eater) (add after 4 week with other fish)
Can I put salt water fish in the Aquavista 500?
The Aquavista 500 is salt-water compatible but only recommended for experienced aquarists due to the sensitive nature of salt water fish. We have built-in biological and mechanical filtration plus a heater, so Clown fish, damsels, and gobies would be the main recommended fish for the Aquavista 500. Live corals and other invertebrates typically have specific light requirements and are not recommended.
Can I put live plants in the Aquavista 500?
We encourage you to decorate your Aquavista 500. However, we discourage placing any live plants in the Aquavista 500 because most plants need stronger lighting and can sometimes end up clogging the filtration.
How do I clean the Aquavista 500?
The Aquavista 500 is easy to maintain, so that you can spend more time enjoying the aquarium than maintaining it.
Basic maintenance (aside from feeding your fish) involves:
(1) Replace the filter sponge in the filter tray once every 4-6 weeks. Additional filters are available in our store.
(2) The water in the aquarium will evaporate, so you should add about 1-2 cups of water per week to maintain the water level.
(3) Once every 3 months, stir up the bottom with the extendable claw to loosen any waste in the gravel and change approximately 1 gallon of water using the included water siphon.
(4) Replace 50% of the bio-balls every 6 months.
(5) Use the algae scraper to wipe down the screen and backdrop as necessary

Q: What is the Panoramic Series by Aquavista?
A: The new Panoramic Series by Aquavista are our new wide-screen, wall-mounted aquariums that hang and look like a plasma television. Due to popular demand, we created a larger aquarium that is perfect for people who love fish but want to spend minimal time taking care of them. The Panoramic Aquarium is perfect for freshwater tropical fish and live plants and comes pre-assembled with filtration, heater, air pump, lighting, automatic feeder, CO2 generator and an embedded control panel to simplify control.
Q: What are the dimensions and capacity of the Panoramic Series?
A: The Panoramic Series is available in two standard sizes / models. The 1480P is 5 ft wide and holds 20 gallons of water. The 1780P is 6 ft wide and holds 25 gallons of water. We can also make custom sizes up to 10 ft wide. Please contact us for a special quotation.
The exact dimensions of the Panoramic Series are as follows:

Q: How is the Panoramic different from the Aquavista 500?
A: What’s similar: The two aquariums are both pre-assembled with advanced aquatic technology and come with all parts and accessories. Both wall aquariums are pre-assembled and self-contained with advanced touchscreen control panels.
What’s different? Aside from being different shapes and sizes, Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquariums are constructed from tempered glass, acrylic and aluminum, while the Aquavista 500 is square and made with acrylic and ABS plastic. The Panoramic is available in a black or silver trim and comes with a black background that acts as an elegant canvas for any aquarium plant or decoration. The Aquavista 500 looks more like a painting and comes with a submersible background and changeable picture frame.
Q: How do I hang the Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium?
A: The Panoramic Series weighs approximately 250 – 300 lbs when full with water. This sounds quite heavy, but the aquarium comes with two steel mounting brackets that make hanging the aquarium SAFE and EASY. The hanging of the Aquavista Panoramic is similar to hanging a flat screen television. All you need is the proper screw for your walls (ie – wood stud, cement, etc.) and a leveler to make sure they are aligned.
Q: Why is the Aquavista Panoramic Aquarium so easy to set up and maintain?
A: The Aquavista Panoramic is pre-assembled with advanced accessories including an LCD Control Panel, Air Pump, dual Water Pump Filtration, CO2 supplier, Heater, and Automatic Feeder. The aquarium comes with everything you need. Just hang, add water, and fish!
Q: What does pre-assembled and self-contained mean?
A: Like the Aquavista 500, each Panoramic wall aquarium comes completely pre-assembled with everything you need to create a healthy tropical water fish tank. Included in each aquarium is: dual filtration, heater, air pump, automatic feeder, CO2 Generator, lighting, temperature sensor, and an embedded LCD control panel for easy control and care. Also like the Aquavista 500, the Panoramic is self-contained, so the aquarium technology is not visible to the common eye. Just hang, add water and fish.
Q: What does the LCD Touch Screen Computer Panel do?
A: Each Panoramic model has a side-mounted programmable LCD touch screen computer panel that makes setting up and caring for the aquarium extremely easy. The touch screen computer panel displays the date and time and even displays room and water temperature. The LCD panel is embedded on the side of each aquarium and allows you to easily program different settings for the automatic feeder, filtration, air pump, illumination, and CO2 generator. For instance, you can program what time you want to feed the fish, what time the lights in the aquarium should be on, and how frequently the CO2 generator should be on. The panel also can be locked to prevent tampering.
Q: What kind of fish can I put in the Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium?
A: The Aquavista Panoramic is made for freshwater tropical fish or goldfish. Salt water is not allowed because the corrosive properties found in salt water may cause rusting on the aquarium frame. Recommended fish examples include:
• Community tropical fish: Platys, Tetras, Mollies, Guppies, Neons
• Cichlids such as Parrot Fish, African Cichlid or South American Cichlids
• Semi-aggressive fish: Danios, Silver Dollars, Tiger / Green / Gold Barbs
• Goldfish: Any fancy goldfish (Oranda, ryukin, fancy tail gold fish, etc.) or regular goldfish (feeder fish etc.)
Almost any freshwater fish can be kept in the Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium. We suggest that you consult with your local aquarium store about the proper fish species to keep.
Q: How many fish can I keep in the Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquairum?
A; The general guideline for tropical fish is 1 inch of fish per gallon. The Aquavista Panoramic is either 20 gallon or 25 gallon capacity. We recommend not overcrowding the fish and starting with 3 or 4 fish to begin with.
Q: Can I set the Panoramic Wall Aquarium as a salt water fish tank?
A: The Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium is recommended for freshwater fish only. While the technology in the aquarium is advanced and of high enough quality to sustain a salt water aquarium, we do not recommend setting up a salt water aquarium because of the aluminum housing in the aquarium body. The salt water may cause corrosion and rusting on the aquarium frame.
Q: Why don’t I have to feed my fish daily?
A: The Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium comes with a programmable Automatic Feeder built in that will feed your fish daily, so you no longer have to feed your fish for weeks at a time. Depending on how much you choose to feed the fish, the automatic feeder can feed your fish for up to 4 weeks at a time. We recommend that you check on the amount of food every 2 weeks to make sure. Just add food to the auto feeder and program the time of day you would like to feed your fish.
Q: What does a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) generator do?
A: The Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium comes with an electronic CO2 generator that does not require a cartridge. The CO2 generator generates much needed carbon dioxide for live plants that allows makes caring for live plants easy. The CO2 along with proper lighting (standard in the Panoramic) encourages photosynthesis in plants and lead to a healthy planted aquarium.
Q: Do I have to keep plants in my aquarium?
A: Plants are not required in the Panoramic Aquarium. The CO2 generator is a standard option in the Panoramic Aquarium that can be manually disabled or enabled. You can set up a fish only aquarium in their Panoramic Aquarium with fake plants and decorations. However, when you are ready or choose to add live plants, just program the CO2 cycle.
Q: What accessories are included with the Aquavista Panoramic?
A: Each self-contained Panoramic wall aquarium comes all essential fish care accessories, including: Water Siphon, Fish Net, Algae Scraper, Starter Bacteria; and extendable pincer claw. The aquarium also comes with two heavy duty steel hanging brackets for safe hanging.

Setting Up Your Aquavista
Please feel free to contact the local distributor in your country or us anytime at 408-453-4151 or info@aquavistainc.com. Here are some of the most common questions that we receive.
Q: I put in my fish and they all died.
A: Make sure that you treated the water with water conditioner if you are using tap water. You should always start with only 1-2 fish when cycling the aquarium. If you add more than 2 fish, your aquarium may have experienced an ammonia spike, which occurs when excess waste is being produced in the aquarium before the beneficial bacteria has established itself. Change 30% of the water and try again! This time with only 1-2 fish.
Q: I am experiencing excessive algae growth in my aquarium, what can I do?
A: Algae growth is typically caused by sunlight and excess feeding/nutrients. Make sure your aquarium is not exposed to direct sunlight or in an overly naturally lit room. Do not overfeed the fish (one time per day is more than enough). To remove algae, use the algae scraper that is included with your AV500 aquarium. You should replace the filter and do a 1 gallon water change every 2 – 3 weeks until the aquarium starts to clear up. Adding a plecostomus or other algae eating fish can also help.
Q: My aquarium is leaking.
A: Don’t panic! The Aquavista aquariums are made from ABS plastic mold injection, so it is virtually leak and shatterproof. We have never had any aquarium have structural issues that lead to leaking. Try to turn off the aquarium to see if it still leaks after 15 minutes. Most likely it will stop.
Any leaking is usually caused by the flow of the water and can be diagnosed to one of the following:
- Leaking from Left Side: The Aquavista 100 and 500 have built in overflow protection. If you fill up the water above the MAX line, it is possible that the water will start to drip down the left side to avoid the water from getting into the components on the right.
- Leaking Down Wall: Make sure the flow diverter is connected snugly and that you are using the splash guard that is included with each unit. This prevents splashing of the water to the lid and leaking down the wall. Make sure there are no bioballs obstructing the flow of the water and to replace the filter sponge in the filter tray every 6-8 weeks. If the filter sponge gets dirty, the water will flow into the aquarium slower, thus causing the water to flow through the holes in the splash guard and touching the lid and then dripping back down the wall.
- Water Evaporation: It is common to have to add 2-3 cups of water per week into the aquarium due to the evaporation of the water to keep the water level high. This is caused by the rapid flow of our filter which leads to better oxidation and water conditions for the fish.
Fish Care
Q: What kind of water should I add to my aquarium?
A: We recommend adding distilled or filtered water to your aquarium. You can also use tap water, but most drinking water contains chloramines, which is a chemical compound composed of chlorine and ammonia which is safe for humans but harmful to fish. Chloramine can be easily removed by using a water conditioner that contains a dechloraminating chemical that can be found at a local pet store for a few dollars.
Q: Why should I wait at least 24 – 48 hours before adding fish to my aquarium?
A: We know you are excited to add some fish. But, in order to do this right you must wait until your aquarium has cycled before adding any fish. The reason for slowly stocking your tank is so that you give your aquarium's biological filter time to catch up with the increased bio load that the new fish introduce to the tank. After 24 – 48 hours, you can start to add one to two fish to cycle your aquarium.
Q: Why add only one or two fish at a time?
A: Only add one or two fish at a time to give your filtration system the time needed to take on the increased biological load that the new fish introduce. Don't feed your fish on the first day to let them get acquainted with their new home. A good hardy fish many use to get the nitrogen cycle started is the zebra danio.
After four weeks have passed, you can continue to add up to two fish at a time. We recommend that you change approximately one gallon of water each time before adding more fish to keep ammonia levels down.
How often should I feed my fish?
Most fish foods will recommend that you feed your fish 2x per day. However, this usually leads to excess feeding. We suggest feeding your fish 1x per day and just enough that they can finish all of the food in under 2 minutes. Missing a feeding occasionally is not harmful either. Do not compensate by overfeeding the next time you feed the fish.
Q: Why does my aquarium water evaporate?
A: Water evaporation will vary with weather conditions. We used high powered water pumps to improve circulation and to provide optimal water conditions for the fish. The agitation of the water oxidizes the air but also will cause the water to evaporate more quickly. < Back to Top
Plant Care
Q: When is the best time to offer lighting and CO2?
A: No less than five to eight hours’ illumination time each day, and you’d better start offering CO2 half an hour later than beginning to offer lighting, which ensures the photosynthesis. Extend the illumination time in the first few days when new plants be added, which helps adapt them to the new surroundings.
Q: How do I know if my plants are photosynthesizing?
A: You can tell if aquarium plants are photosynthesizing by observing the plants. When small bubbles form on the leaves of plants it is a sign that photosynthesis is occurring. This is commonly referred to as pearling.
